What vehicle do I need ?
Any 4×4 vehicle with low range with enough power for dune driving (diesels and petrol enjins)
You will not really enjoy the experience if you get stuck on every second dune!
Can I use a 2×4 with diff lock?
No, no 2×4 or 4×4 without low range is allowed
Is it save to use an old vehicle?
Yes you may use an older model vehicle, provided that you are sure that the vehicle is in very good condition
Do I need to have 4×4 experience?
No, we will guide you without any 4 x 4 exprience. You will have to know the 4-highs and the 4-lows on you gearbox and how to engage it, then we can help you further.
Are there mechanics to repair a broken vehicle?
No, Please ensure that your vehicle is serviced at a credible garage. Tell them where you are going to drive.
(Vehicles that broke down will be left in the desert, and it will be your own reponsibility to recover. There are expert recovery teams in Luderitz and Walvis Bay).
Are small trailers allowed?
No, no trailers are allowed to be taken into the desert on any Namib tour.
Can I use my rooftop tent?
Yes but only if your vehicle is not “top heavy”, There are dunes that have to be rushed to get over the dune and all dunes are not taken on at a 90º angle to the dune, which may lead to your vehicle falling over if it is top heavy.
Will my wife enjoy such a trip?
Yes, certainly the wives are normally the people that will make you come back for another trip.
